It started by bringing my trauma-informed work home…

With 27 years of experience as a clinical HIV pharmacist in Vancouver, Canada, I spent a decade on the front lines in the city’s infamous Downtown Eastside. This is the same community where Dr. Gabor Maté honed his Compassionate Inquiry for people suffering from severe trauma, mental health issues, poverty, and addictions.  In our clinic setting, harm reduction and trauma-informed care became essential tools to connect with patients and encourage their engagement with healthcare.

Over time, I realized these same principles needed to be brought home, aligning with the Conscious Parenting methods I was studying that helped me change the dynamics in my own family. Impassioned by the work of breaking negative intergenerational cycles in relationships, I left my career as a pharmacist and trained with Dr.Shefali to become a Conscious Parenting and Life Coach.
