Parenting From Different Pages: Bridging the Gap

  • Capilano Library 3045 Highland Blvd North Vancouver, BC (map)

Parenting can raise conflicts in a marriage, playing good cop, bad cop with our kids.

Parenting From Different Pages: Bridging the Gap

Do you and your partner parent from different playbooks? One of you sets the limit, the other softens it. One says "let them feel it," the other jumps in to fix it. You're not failing.

You're likely parenting from different pages, shaped by different childhoods, nervous systems, and beliefs about what kids need.

This Conscious Parenting presentation helps couples and co-parents understand why these gaps show up, and how to close them without losing yourselves in the process. You'll learn how to spot the unconscious patterns driving your reactions, communicate your parenting values without blame, and build a shared approach that both of you can actually stand behind — even when you started from opposite pages.

In this session, you'll learn to:

  • Recognize where your parenting instincts come from and why your partner's are different

  • Turn parenting disagreements into productive conversations instead of power struggles

  • Create a unified front that still respects each parent's individual strengths

  • Repair after conflict in front of (and with) your kids

Whether you're newly co-parenting or have been navigating this gap for years, this session offers practical tools you can start using that same night.

Free Registration through the North Vancouver District Library will be available in October.
